About GMA GMA Warehousing and Transport began trading from a 7000 sq ft warehouse in 1987 with just 2 employees Steve Day and Glenn Appleby. The business soon gathered momentum. It took just five months for staff numbers to double, shortly after which another 5,000 sq ft warehouse was secured on the same site. Then, just three years later, GMA bought out locally-based Ipswich Transit Express, whod owned 3,000 sq ft of space on the dock area. Logistically, of course, the two sites needed to be amalgamated. So, in 1991, GMA moved into 50,000 sq ft premises close to the current site on Ransomes Europark, Ipswich. Since then, GMA progress has continued at an exciting tempo and has produced a company which now operates more than 150,000 sq ft of warehousing. Two new directors, Phil Greenhalgh and Jim Sheridan have been brought on board to help oversee a hard-working team of 46 drivers, warehousemen and office staff several of whom are happy to have been with the company for years. Today, GMA specialises in de-vanning, holding and direct delivery to customers. A determined policy of continuous investment in new equipment, an emphasis on delivering personal service and a commitment to keep developing market-leading services even further has been the cornerstone to such outstanding growth. And, of course, retaining a wide-ranging, loyal customer base both spread throughout the UK and concentrated around the Haven ports has also played a big part in our success. As members of the Road Haulage Association (RHA) and United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA), GMA operate the highest service levels and so are well placed to take good care of all your warehousing and distribution requirements, whatever they are. |
